This year’s Apple Day will look a little different. After the long drought, the orchard’s trees have produced less fruit, so the usual bustle of juicing, tasting apples and “longest peel” competitions simply isn’t possible. But the spirit of the day remains very much alive.
So instead, we’re inviting everyone to join us for Orchard Day — a relaxed afternoon celebrating the orchard itself and the community that cares for it.
From 2 – 4.30pm on Sunday 4th October, the orchard will come alive with games, children’s crafts, conkers, stalls selling preserves, delicious cakes and savouries along with our own orchard honey, and a prize raffle. It’s a chance to wander among the trees, meet neighbours, support local makers, and enjoy the orchard in its autumn colours. There will be some fresh apple juice on sale for you to enjoy.
Entry is free, and everyone is welcome. Even without apples, there’s plenty to enjoy — and plenty to celebrate. Games are charged at £1 for 5 turns.
