WOLVERCOTE WONDER

This apple is a hybrid developed from the cross fertilization between two existing varieties in the orchard. It is thought that one of the parent varieties is the Tom Putt. The original tree is situated along the front wall and a second was grafted and planted near the back of the orchard in 2006. The apple is a small to medium in size, with a round to conical but slightly irregular shape and a light yellow green background colour which develops crimson stripes that darken to a more all over dark crimson colour. The flavour is light and creamy with little acidity so makes a pleasant dessert apple. It matures from late September to early October and stores quite well in a cool environment.
