VRANJA QUINCE

Quinces produce a beautiful simple open pink flower in spring and the fruit is prized for the fragrance it adds to an apple pie or indeed a meat dish.  It also makes a beautiful pink jelly which again works with meat or puddings alike.  Cooked further to a more solid paste creates the famous quince cheese which works delightfully with any strong cheese, in Spain this paste is called Membrillo and is eaten with Manchego cheese. This Vranja variety produces large, long, irregular shaped fruit so you don’t need many for most recipes!  The Vranja variety produces large long shaped quinces so you don’t need many for most recipes.
