OXFORD CONQUEST

Planted in the orchard in 2009 this apple was raised by Fred Wastie of Eynsham in 1927 and is a cross between a Blenheim Orange and a Court Pendu Plat.

It is a dessert apple that matures quite late in the season so is not ready to eat until November.  The flesh is firm and sharp at first but mellows, becoming richer and sweeter towards December, when the flavour is described as quite powerful, with a bit of a twang!
