OXFORD BEAUTY

Planted in the orchard in 2002 this is one of many apples propagated by a Mr Fred Wastie of Eynsham in Oxfordshire in the early part of last century.  This dessert variety was raised in 1924 as a cross between Gasgoyne’s Scarlet and Scarlet Nonpareil or Nonpareil. The skin is pale yellow with a dotted red blush and white flesh.  It has a good sub acid flavour which is crisp, melting and sweet .  It matures in mid September but does not keep well.
