LANGLEY BULLACE DAMSON

Donated to the orchard on 2002 by Alison Adcock this damson variety was raised by Veitch’s nursery at Langley, Buckinghamshire around 1902.

A Bullace is a variety of plum but this variety is much closer to a damson.  The oval blue-black fruit is medium-sized and has a distinct damson flavour.  Ripening mid-October to early November the fruit makes excellent jams, jellies and even a good rival to Sloe Gin!
