JENNIFER

Planted around 2009 Jennifer is was raised by Fred Wastie, from Eynsham in 1923 and recorded by his son James Frederick Wastie in 1944. It was named after his daughter and is a cross between Duchess’s Favourite and Beauty of Bath. Jennifer is a dessert apple, maturing in late August and early September. It has yellow skin flushed with light red and deeper red stripes.  The flavour is sweet and juicy but as with many early varieties, it does not keep well.
