This tree was planted in 2009 and was incorporated into the archway which was erected in 2011. A late-ripening culinary apple of impressive size, this apple is a cross between Blenheim Orange and Newton Wonder. It was raised by a Mr G. Wratten, who lived in Howgate Lane, Bembridge in the Isle of Wight around 1915. As a culinary apple, it is light and sweet though without the depth of the Blenheim Orange and it cooks to a fluffy puree. It is a vigorous and hardy tree so is popular in the north. It ripens early to mid-October and keeps well.
