DISCOVERY

One of the first trees to be planted in this orchard in 1994 this is an early dessert apple, maturing around the middle of August. It was raised in Essex in the mid twentieth century and introduced in 1963. Probably a cross between Worcester Pearmain and Beauty of Bath. Medium sized fruit with a bright red flush, on and just under the skin, with a fresh light flavour. It is best eaten fresh off the tree and is also a good for juicing. Once established this variety produces quite a heavy crop. The blossom shows some resistance to frost so it is a good variety for cold areas. Part tip bearing
