There are two trees of this variety planted in this orchard, one in 2002 and one on the espalier in 2017. Bampton Fairing, also known as Bamfairs is an old Oxfordshire variety that takes its name from being ripe around the day of the Bampton Fair where it was sold. The last oldest remaining tree is owned by Mr and Mrs Harris in the village of Fordwells. This dessert apple is small to medium-sized, round in shape and has a deep red blush, covered with starry dots, over most of its pale green background. The flesh is white with a juicy, sweet and tangy taste. It ripens in early to mid-September and can be stored for up to three weeks.
